Brainspotting for moms who feel stuck
ADJUNCT | INTENSIVES | SHORT TERM THERAPY
You keep trying to do all the things, and you know that change should be coming, but you just feel so stuck. It's something you've talked about in therapy for years, and you've just never been able to get past a certain point.
For some reason, you've hit a roadblock, and you don't know how to get past it.
You know all the things that you need to do, and you just can't seem to make yourself do it. Something is getting in your way, and you don't know what it is or how to move it.
The hardest part of this is that you might not even really be able to name what it is. You just know that something is off.
It’s there, under the surface, holding you back, and when you try to talk about it, it slips away.
You can feel it, but you can’t explain it. Not to your therapist, not the people closest to you, not even to yourself.
This is what I find Brainspotting to be the most helpful with.
Brainspotting helps you to access your deep inner knowledge
You want to wake up tomorrow and be done. Not necessarily the whole problem goes away, but you know that you can actually trust yourself to start moving forward.
You've identified what is getting in your way.
You want to know that you’re on the path towards becoming the you that you’re meant to be.
Is Brainspotting a good fit for you?
Brainspotting tends to be especially helpful for moms who:
Can feel that something is wrong, but can't find the words for it. Both in therapy and anywhere else. You've been asked, "What are you feeling?" and you genuinely don't know. You just know it's there.
Have been in therapy before and made some progress, but keep hitting the same wall. The insight is there. The shift just isn't.
Are carrying the weight of parenting a neurodivergent (or parenting in general) with the chronic stress, grief, and hypervigilance that goes with it, and feel like it’s taken up residence in their body in a way they can’t think or talk their way out of.
Feel disconnected from themselves. Like, there’s a version of them somewhere underneath all of this, but they can’t quite reach her.
If this sounds like you, brainspotting might be helpful.
Sometimes there is something in the body that's holding on
Brainspotting is hard to explain. Basically, by tuning into your feelings around the place that you are feeling stuck, confused, or lost, the two of us collaboratively find the spot or spots in your visual field where the best processing will occur.
By focusing inward, on that spot, we’re able to help you access those parts of you that are keeping you stuck. Whether it's a traumatic memory or a somatic experience that you haven't been aware of until now.
Through this deep, intense processing, we are able to help you get past whatever it is that is keeping you stuck. This happens without you ever having to talk or even put words to it if you don't want to.

As a therapist, I have seen the impact that Brainspotting can have on a person's life. How it can take something vague and elusive that is holding the person back and move it quickly so that the person can move on with their life.
This processing is like no other therapy because you don't have to talk at all. You really just allow your brain to do what it needs to get the healing you seek.
Are you ready to move forward?

As with the other trauma therapies that I use, I find that longer sessions are more effective for Brainspotting. We will utilize 90 minutes for your session. Because of this, my Brainspotting sessions are $495.

Sometimes, during a Brainspotting session, you may have intense emotions. Your therapist is always present with you and will help you through it if needed. Often on the other side of those emotions is a breakthrough — but Brainspotting provides many ways to reduce the intensity so you can still get to the other side without getting overwhelmed.

While Brainspotting does not have the same amount of research available as ART or EMDR, the research that is out there is showing that it is just as effective. It can be more gentle than both EMDR and ART, and so for some people this therapy is a better fit and is tolerated more easily.

I am able to do brainspotting either in person or online. I only work in person one Saturday a month, so if you want to get started quickly, online is your best option.
