Move Beyond Your Trauma So You Can Be the Mom You’re Meant to Be
Being a mom is the best. But it’s also one of the hardest things you’ve ever done.
Loving them so much makes you so vulnerable to trauma (birth, hospitalizations, surgeries, complex medical conditions, all the things that can go wrong).
And brings up all the stuff from childhood.
It might just be flashes or middle school bullying or it could be all the stuff you don’t want to think about from your childhood.
You’re not alone.
When bad stuff happens to us as children, we relive it when our children are the same age, especially when we haven’t processed what happened. We see the look on our child’s face when they fall and hear the adults in our lives criticize us as children for making honest mistakes.
You see the child you were in the child you have, and if you have unresolved trauma, that’s going to come up.
This unresolved trauma (childhood or otherwise) shows itself when you:
Respond with more anger or anxiety than the situation warrants
Are harder on ourselves, our spouse, and our child than we mean to be
Become dysregulated quickly and easily over something small
Have flashbacks of traumatic (or scary) events that impact the way we respond to our children in the moment
Freak out over little things, even though your rational mind knows everything will be fine
Avoid doing or allowing your child to do things that remind you of your past negative events
Despite everyone telling you that you are a good mom, you constantly feel like you aren’t good enough, and you're failing your kids and yourself
You have grief around certain parts of your parenting journey that just don’t seem to move or change
If you experience any of this, your trauma might be getting in the way of being the mom you want to be.
Healing From Mama Trauma
It’s so rewarding when you can really be present with your kids. When instead of having flashbacks or hearing those negative voices, you can just enjoy playing with them. Appreciate the little person they are, instead of thinking about yourself at that age.
You want to get up in the middle of the night and just enjoy the snuggles. Smell their hair and help them get back to sleep. Instead of launching yourself out of bed with your heart racing and possibly angry for no reason.
You want to have a day that ends with you feeling good about yourself, not feeling guilty or close to tears for losing your temper over something small.
You want to get up in the morning feeling calm and peaceful, and go to sleep confident it was a good day.
Now I can’t help you become the perfect mom (that doesn’t exist), but I can help you release the trauma that’s getting in the way of your being the mom you want to be.
You can…
Have a regulated nervous system (feel calm and relaxed)
Recognize that you are a good mom
Respond with love and patience most of the time
Be present in the moment with the children you love so much
If you find yourself thinking, I want this, but I don’t have the time for weekly therapy…
This is where Trauma Intensives for Moms come in.
Using specialized trauma modalities that give you fast and effective healing, we can help you make more progress in 3 days than you would have made over months or years in traditional therapy.

What does a Trauma Intensive for Moms Look Like?
Before our first session, you will receive a workbook to fill out that will walk you through all of the traumatic experiences you have been through and how you think these experiences are impacting your life today. (We can fill this out in our first session if needed)
We will go over these experiences in our pre-session and come up with a personalized plan for your 3-day intensive.
Day 1
Friday Evening
an hour and a half session where you will dip your toes into trauma processing by processing the trauma that is most ingrained into your day-to-day life.
Day 2
Saturday
A 3-hour day filled with more trauma processing, including the event/events that are making motherhood the hardest.
Day 3
Sunday
A 3-hour day filled with more processing and consolidation. You will leave the session today with an action plan to help you move forward and maintain the progress you have made.
After your intensive, you will move on with your life closer to being the mother that you want to be.
Trauma Intensives with Brainspotting and Accelerated Resolution Therapy
During your pre-session, we will discuss your options and come up with a unique treatment plan for you. You will receive some combination of Brainspotting and Accelerated Resolution Therapy based off of the best fit for your needs.
-
“Where you look affects how you feel.”
Brainspotting utilizes specific spots in the visual field to process unresolved trauma. It is a powerful yet gentle therapy that follows the person's needs in the moment.
-
“Keep the facts, let go of traumatic images and sensations.”
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a trauma therapy that utilizes bilateral stimulation, most often eye movements, to process traumatic experiences. The eye movements are used to replace problematic images with more pleasant ones, allowing the person to no longer feel the extreme emotions that originally occurred during the traumatic experience.
